About Me
My name is Amanda Killough and I teach ninth-grade AP Human Geography and World Geography in Flower Mound, Texas. I've been at Flower Mound High School for 12 of my 17 years in education. I am passionate about sharing the world with my students through the lens of geography, opening their minds to other cultures and perspectives, and encouraging them to be a positive change for their future. I've been fortunate throughout my career and especially here at Flower Mound to work with some of the best resources and educators. I couldn't be more grateful for my experiences and colleagues that I've found at Lewisville ISD. When I'm not working I love to travel and learn new things about places I've never been and always look forward to bringing those experiences back to my classroom. I can't wait to explore the Arctic and share it with my students!

Pre-Expedition Workshop
National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions brought us to Washington, D.C. for an intensive workshop for 4 days in April. There we met all of the 2019 Grosvenor Teacher Fellows (45 in all - the largest class of fellows since the program started in 2006). We learned photography, video and storytelling techniques in order to bring back our story and experiences to our students and community. It was quite an amazing experience to meet so many wonderfully talented, passionate educators across the U.S. and Canada. We bonded quickly and continue to talk to each other almost daily as we prepare for each of our expeditions.
During our workshop we received more details on what clothes to pack, what binoculars to bring, how to be interviewed, and the amazing technology at our disposal for bringing it back to the classroom, colleagues and community.
We did have some time to explore the National Geographic Museum exhibit over Egyptian Queens and the beautiful cherry blossoms.
We were treated so well all week by our host National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions. I am so grateful for this opportunity to explore this remote part of the world and bring that back to my classroom.
